Category I

As per CPCB guidelines, all Producers, Importers, and Brand Owners (PIBOs) are required to take responsibility for managing the plastic they introduce into the market. The Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) mandates recycling a specific percentage of this plastic each year. These escalating targets ensure a phased and measurable approach to plastic waste management:

2021-22: At least 25% of the total plastic introduced must be recycled.
2022-23: The recycling requirement increases to 70%.
2023-24 onwards: 100% of the plastic introduced must be accounted for through recycling or proper end-of-life processing.

Register on the EPR Portal
Submit an actionable plan
Meet recycling targets and file annual returns
Use recycled content and engage in proper end-of-life disposal
Engage with PROs (Plastic Waste Processors) and submit plastic credit certificates
